Tuesday Mar 05, 2024

It's been only two and a half years since the last episode! Last night I walked to my friend Margaux Williamson's house. We talked outside her studio in the rain, and then inside her studio where the walls were covered with nearly-finished and recently finished paintings. We discuss the catalogue essay that Ben Lerner wrote for her recent show at the McMichael Gallery outside Toronto, and we talk about each other's defence mechanisms a bit. (When Margaux says "married," she means "in a committed relationship.")

My friend Kathryn told me not to put this one up, because it made me seem like I was too satisfied with my art, whereas in fact I am very critical and I never stop trying to make it better. I have decided to put this episode up because the play never did get produced, this tiny reading was the only really success that the play had, and so it makes sense in retrospect to have been so happy and gratified by it, since an audience of about six or seven (which is what we had) was about as big an audience as my play (it appears) deserved.
Recorded August 21, 2018.
